Sources and configuration
Equipment layout, dimensions, routes, component counts and timing are illustrative, not a surveyed plant model. The selected-heat tour compresses the narrated route into 573 seconds. Continuous production runs concurrent cycles with material handoffs, a filled starting caster and finite intermediate buffers. Its clocks and throughput are illustrative, not BlueScope operating rates. Plates accumulate in five stacks of twenty; all five clear after the crane lifts away, and production continues.
The furnace CS2 conveyor feeds its charging hopper. Screened sinter feeds the stockhouse; undersize returns to sinter preparation. These are material routes, not waste stockpile conveyors. BlueScope No. 6 reline response · BlueScope sinter flows. Continuous casting uses a tundish to bridge ladle changes: Colorado School of Mines casting overview.
The walking-beam reheat is a planned configuration; BlueScope’s August 2026 report scheduled commissioning for mid-2027. August 2026 project report · Plate Mill Modernisation.
Process relationships are informed by the No. 6 Blast Furnace reline EIS, the ARENA PCI study and the European Commission historical iron and steel BREF.
